7TV Christmas Special, Episode 3: Making the Escape

SYNOPSIS

We’ve all been there before. Where? That’s the problem. Or, it’s part of the problem. When I write “we’ve all been there before” I do not mean at that location. Not literally. That would be odd and crowded. Clearly I mean that we have all been in a similar situation. Any attempts are literalism are clearly meant to complicate matters.

Where were we? Again, that’s the problem. Shopping was hectic. Shops were crowded, crowds were worked up, and the working were just trying to hold it together. You, you last minute shopper, you got in, you got out, and now you are lost. Do you remember where you parked?

This episode sees the Not a Santa casts attempting to find their car. Not just any car will do, they want their car. The quote “Hell is other people” was coined in a parking lot the week before Christmas.

Find your car, prevent the other casts from finding theirs!

SET UP

The table is 3×3 and filled with cars and other vehicles. This is a crowded parking lot, so feel free to fill this thing to an insane degree. It’s Christmas. Have you ever worked retail at Christmas? Just recreate that lot.

Roll to determine attacker/defender. The defender places 3 objective markers following the standard objective marker placement rules. The attacker places 2. Objective markers must be places on top of vehicles; placement must adhere to standard rules in all other respects.

Deploy casts using the usual rules.

AND… ACTION!

The side with the least number of miniatures in play at the start of the game has the initiative.

SPECIAL RULES

Bystanders are not active and do not interact with players casts at the start of the game. Bystanders all become active if a cast fires ranged weapons or causes an explosion. Then, bystanders “Block” special effect becomes active against that cast. Bystanders cannot be targeted with strikes, though they may be affected by other in-game events.

Objective markers do not disappear when collected. When a cast uses an action to collect an objective marker, roll 1D6. On an unmodified roll of 5+, the cast has found their car. Flip the objective marker over, hiding the 7TV logo to indicate that no other cast may collect this objective marker.

Objective markers that are not a cast’s car as above may be collected multiple times, though only once for each cast.

VICTORY POINTS

At the end of the game use the standard victory point rules to determine which side wins with the following changes.

Collecting an objective marker earns +1 VP.

Finding your cast’s car earns +1D6 VP, as the Maguffin, if you have one cast member in base contact with the vehicle at the end of the game.

DIRECTOR’S CUT

Let’s go nuts! Cars cannot be driven, but they can be destroyed! Who cares if the other side finds their car if the car is reduced to a smoking heap?

All vehicles may be attacked as normal. Use the Car stats for all vehicles.

Any cars that explode can effect Bystanders if they are in range.

HOW DID IT PLAY?

Don’t know yet, haven’t played it. The table is set and the casts are ready. A unique problem this year, I now have more than four Not a Santa options. I’m keeping the casts small so the Necromancer Santa, the one who stared it all, is benched. Too many skeletons would just clutter the board.

Mayhem will ensue, just later.
